It’s been almost a week since Sharon Osbourne took a look at Sheryl Underwood to question her defense of Piers Morgan’s controversial comments about Meghan Markle on “The Talk,” and the co-hosts have yet to reconcile.
“Sharon is angry with Sheryl because she feels she helped sow a seed that is racist and [Osbourne]He’s unable to rationalize that’s not what happened, ”a member of CBS’s daytime program said on page six.
In fact, the informant said Sharon went crazy after the show and shouted, “I’m getting my lawyers!”
Osbourne threw a long apology to those who offended the black community, but did not mention Underwood.
A source close to Osbourne, however, told us that he personally contacted Underwood.
“On Friday he sent her a text message with a detailed, emotional and sincere apology. It was very personal and Sheryl did not return, “said the source.
Later, Osbourne did an interview in Variety magazine, where she confronted CBS for blinding her to the segment.
But sources told us it was Osbourne who initially wanted to talk about Morgan and Markle on the show.
“Whenever Sharon is in the news, she always goes to the producers and wants to address it on the show. She was aggressive about supporting Piers on social media and let herself be dragged down by it.
“She got to work after being labeled a racist on Twitter and asked him to deal with what was happening online. She [was not] blinded by CBS, ”the informant said.
Osbourne was initially going to address it in a monologue, but “30-35 minutes” before going live, we are told that the producers changed their minds and decided they wanted a discussion between the hosts.
The informant continued, “Everyone knew there would be an argument. Sharon was already hyperemotional and waiting for Sheryl’s coverage, and then she felt attacked. She blamed Sheryl. At the post-show meeting, she yelled,” I’m getting my lawyers! “
The Osbourne source explained: “Sharon was expecting perhaps two questions, not a 20-minute segment. She broke precedents and, to make matters worse, [the ladies] it had been a few weeks since he had come to Jesus, promising to have his back. For her to be attacked as she did, I found it very painful. “
CBS announced it was investigating the exchange after Osbourne dropped the “F-bomb” twice, including shouting, “I can’t be racist. I’m a [bleeping] Jewish “.
And Page Six, the exclusive developer of co-presenter Elaine Welteroth and her stylist, have complained that there is an alleged “hostile, race-insensitive environment” on the show.
The investigation comes after years of other high-profile scandals involving toxic work environments and racial allegations on the net.
A CBS representative has not commented, but released a statement Friday after the announcement.
“We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace,” they said.
“The Talk” suspended live episodes and aired previously recorded shows on Monday and Tuesday. They are expected to return to live shows on Wednesday.
