HELOTES, Texas – A Helotes teenager feels safer leaving her home these days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
“I’ve been able to go to more places and be more with my friends and I don’t care so much,” said 14-year-old Hannah Ross, who participated in a COVID-19 Modern vaccine trial conducted by Tekton Research.
“No one gets anywhere without medical tests. If no one is willing to take the risk, no one gets the advantage of having the vaccine. And so, when she said she wanted to do it, I supported her, ”said Judy Ross, Hannah’s mother.
Hannah received her first shot on December 18, not knowing if it was the vaccine or a placebo.
“I had a fever over 100 for two days, and then I also had body aches, chills and fatigue,” he said.

Hannah got her second shot on January 13th.
“The second was just fever and body aches,” he said.
“They have to go every three months to draw blood, so they can observe their antibody levels, see what they do, and also do COVID tests,” Judy Ross said.
Hannah’s parents have also received the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We’ll still mask ourselves when we go out and maintain social distances, but we don’t have to worry about whether we’ll get it or give it to someone else,” Judy Ross said.
Hannah said she feels great and is doing gymnastics.
“He goes to the gym about 25 hours a week from time to time to competitions,” Judy Ross said.
Hannah’s mother said vaccinating most of the family makes life a lot easier.
“We don’t care if someone isn’t masked or is too close,” Judy Ross said.
Modern has also begun testing its vaccine on children under 12, which includes babies up to six months old. The clinical trial, KIDCOVE study, will recruit approximately 6,750 children in the United States and Canada.
