“It’s time to focus on the GAMES again”
Canadian video game producer Jade Raymond has announced the founding of a brand new studio. Montreal-based Haven Studios is a new, independent developer who has already started working directly on a mysterious new IP for PlayStation platforms.
“Many of the talented game developers I’ve worked with for years (and who I love so much!) Come together to do what we’re most passionate about,” Raymond said on an official PlayStation blog. “It’s time to focus on the GAMES again in a place where we can practice our crafts without barriers or impediments. We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves and find community. We want to pour our passion in a project. We want to do something wonderful for people to experience. “
The foundation of Haven Studios comes a month after the news that Raymond, formerly of Ubisoft and Electronic Arts, had left Google after the closure of Stadia’s in-house studios. In the introductory block, Raymond alludes to the difficulties he has faced – both in game development and in the world at large – over the past year and how he hopes his studio will offer a metaphorical “refuge” for his staff. and customers.
“We want to do something wonderful for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games to bring joy to people’s lives. And so does Sony. Its commitment to excellence is unmatched. That’s why I couldn’t be happier for your support and support, ”Raymond continues. “Together we want to create games that are a haven for gamers and we want to build a studio that is a haven for developers.”
