At ESPN we present the possibilities of each of the teams still in the race for the ‘Orejona’.
The round of 16 of the Champions League ended and the eight clubs that will fight for one of the four tickets for the Semifinals were defined. The draw for the quarterfinals will be held on Friday 19 March in Nyon, Switzerland. The first leg will be played between 6 and 7 April.

MANCHESTER CITY
Pep Guardiola’s side beat Borussia Mönchengladbach to win two games 2-0. Guardiola’s pending subject at City is to win the Champions League and Manchester fans are excited that his team will win the ‘Orejona’ and the Premier League this year. According to the Soccer Power Index, Manchester City are the top contenders to win the Champions League with a 36% chance.
BAYERN MUNICH
The reigning European champions had no problem beating Lazio of Italy. The Teutonic team has a good chance of being proclaimed two-time champion of the Old Continent by maintaining much of the level that captivated thousands of fans the previous campaign. Another factor in favor of Munich is the Polish Robert Lewandowski, who already has more than 30 goals this campaign. According to Soccer Power Index, Bayern Munich has a 19% chance of winning the Champions League.
LIVERPOOL
The ‘Reds’ beat Leipzig – currently second in the Bundesliga – easily and although they are not having a good time in the Premier League, Liverpool have shown that they have enough quality to fight for the European Cup. The performance of the offensive trident made up of Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah is key to Jurgen Klopp’s aspirations to once again enjoy the highest European glory. According to the Soccer Power Index, Liverpool have an 11% chance of winning the Champions League.
REAL MADRID
The Merengues qualified for the Quarterfinals after winning by an overall score of 4-1 at Atalanta in Serie A. The team led by Zinedine Zidane is the only Spanish representative who continues in the competition and fans ‘Whites’ dream of their team lifting the Champions League again, which they have not won since 2018. The Soccer Power Index points out that Madrid has an 11% chance of winning the cup.
CHELSEA
The ‘Blues’ surprised the fans of the Champions League by eliminating Atletico Madrid, leaders of Spanish football and who were one of the favorites to reach the final stages of the main competition of UEFA clubs. Chelsea do not look like one of the strongest rivals in this edition of the Champions League although few would be surprised if they finish the campaign among the top four teams. According to the Soccer Power Index, the Stamford Bridge set has the same odds as Liverpool and Real Madrid of getting the ‘Orejona’, 11%.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND
With Norwegian Erling Haaland as the top star in the squad, Dortmund advanced to the quarterfinals after eliminating Sevilla. The Teutonic team does not boast of a squad full of stars, but Haaland makes them one of the most dangerous teams in the competition. For the Soccer Power Index, Dortmund has only a 5% chance of lifting the title.
PSG
With a memorable performance by Kylian Mbappé at the Camp Nou, PSG eliminated by an overall score of 5-2 in Barcelona, which picked up a new failure in Europe. The Parisian team reached the Final in the last edition of the Champions League, but curiously in this campaign is not considered one of the favorites to reach the match for the title. According to the Soccer Power Index, PSG has a 5% chance of winning at the end of the tournament.
I BRING
The Dragons of the Mexican Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona starred in the biggest surprise of the round of 16 by eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus. While it is true that it looks very complicated for the Portuguese team to advance to the semifinals, the fans dream that their team will give them another surprise. The Soccer Power Index estimates that Porto have only a 1% chance of winning the Champions League.
