The misery of the Knicks guard worsens with the injury of Immanuel Quickley

The Knicks ’depth in the guard will be even more severely tested Thursday night against the Orlando Magic.

Rookie Immanuel Quickley will miss the game due to an ankle injury, the Knicks announced, who joined on the sidelines of team-mate Elfrid Payton (right hamstring hamstring), Derrick Rose (safety and health protocols) and Austin Rivers (personal reasons).

Quickley had started the last two games against Brooklyn and Philadelphia, but Frank Ntilikina will likely replace him against the Magic. Reserve goalkeeper Alec Burks has also spent some time on the ball in recent games, and the Knicks (20-21) make much of their offense through striker Julius Randle, who leads the team with 5 , 8 assists per game.

Jared Harper, who has not appeared in a game since Dec. 31, was also able to act after spending time with Westchester in the G-League bubble.

Quickley said after Tuesday’s loss to the 76ers that he injured his ankle in the first quarter, but that he stayed in the game and “just resisted it.”
