Ford Motor said Thursday that the global shortage of semiconductor chips and winter storms affecting the availability of other parts in the U.S. are causing it to cancel changes on two floors and build F-150 pickups and Edge SUVs without certain parts.

The automaker plans to complete construction of the F-150 and Edge models in “several weeks” when the parts, including some semiconductor electronic components, are available. The number of vehicles affected is expected to be “per thousand,” according to a Ford spokeswoman. He declined to be more specific due to the volatility of the chip shortage.

Production cancellations include three shifts through Friday at a Kentucky plant that produces Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair crossovers. Ford also confirmed downtime earlier this month, as well as a day next week at a plant in Germany that produces the Ford Fiesta car, which is no longer sold in the United States.

Ford’s actions are the last, as the auto industry tries to cope with the global shortage of chips. Consulting firm AlixPartners estimates that the lack of shavings will reduce the global automobile industry’s revenue by $ 60.6 billion.

Ford has said chip shortages could cut its profits by $ 1 billion to $ 2.5 billion this year.

General Motors, Ford’s biggest rival, previously confirmed that it is also partially building some pads in an effort to keep factories running amid a shortage of chips. GM expects chip shortages to reduce $ 1.5 billion to $ 2.5 billion of its free cash flow by 2021.
