San Mateo County changes vaccine distribution strategy: NBC Bay Area

San Mateo County is changing the way it runs its COVID-19 vaccine sites, starting to think it’s smaller and more local.

People living in and around the town of Daly lined up Thursday at the Chinese hospital’s outpatient center, one of five smaller vaccination sites set up this week in San Mateo County.

These mass vaccination sites will no longer be a focus for county health leaders, rather than waiting for smaller sites to include even accommodations.

“Going from Daly City to San Mateo by bus is maybe 45 to 50 minutes,” said supervisor David Canepa. “Here, just log in.”

So far, the county says smaller sites are getting a good response from people who use them and plan to open several next week.

“A lot of people are trying to get the vaccine right now, and when I tried to get an appointment online, I failed, so when I found out there was a chance to have a good time and I had the day off, it rained or shine take it, ”said Lara Pecchi of San Bruno.
