4 players resigned while 2 more people sign agreements

The Dallas Cowboys have made several free agency moves, most of which have flown under the radar. This trend continued on Friday as the club completed six more staff transactions.

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys officially signed CB CJ Goodwin and re-signed WR Malik Turner. WR Chris Lacy, TE Cole Hikutini, C Marcus Henry and WR Jon’Vea Johnson resigned.

It’s easy to see why the Cowboys bounced back from Goodwin as he was the club’s best special teams player in 2020 and John Fassel hopes to continue to improve the special teams unit. That deal was reported earlier in the week, but ended today and Goodwin returns to Dallas for just $ 3.5 million over the next two seasons.

Turner was a restricted free agent, but did not receive a bid from the Cowboys, which meant he would reach the free market. Still, Turner returned to the list a few days later.

Hikutini was the weird man in a crowded TE room featuring Dalton Schultz, Sean McKeon and a returnee Blake Jarwin.

Henry spent most of his time on the Dallas training squad a season ago and could find his way back there if he didn’t go claimed.

The Cowboys filled their wide depth with receivers reassigning Noah Brown, Cedrick Wilson and the aforementioned Turner, making Lacy and Johnson more expendable.
