Within hours of his departure, the former surfer and president of the Federation shared a postcard with Katherine Diaz
The time is hard for the Diaz family, after the death of Salvadoran surfer Katherine. The silence in the face of the helplessness and pain that besets them is evident and sincere, to keep the mourning for their tragic death.
However, José “el Bamba” Díaz, his older brother, ex-surfer and current president of the Salvadoran Surfing Federation (Fesasurf), shared a few words for his sister, on his social networks.
On her Instagram account, “Bamba” posted a photo with her sister Kathy. Both in El Tunco, La Llibertat, smiling and with their postcard of real surfers. One last goodbye, to fire a high performance athlete.

“Love forever, little sister,” Diaz closed, accompanying his post with tears and hands in prayer.
Many athletes have extended their displays of affection and pain, with messages of condolence for Diaz and his family. Among them are Marcelo Castellanos, surf coach; Alex Larín, player of the Xelajú of Guatemala; Porfirio Miranda, national surfer; Raúl Renderos, former CS FAS player; and personalities from the show such as Roberto Acosta, Verónica Guerrero, among others.
Also on her personal Facebook account, “Bamba” changed and updated her personal photo for a side of her sister, who died at the age of 22, after being struck by lightning when she entered the water to surfing. In the picture, “Katu”, as his acquaintances and friends called him, appears next to his surfboard, his passion for life.

Comments on sports figures and personal posts on his networks of surfers such as Bryan Pérez, Josselyn Alabi, and other selected locals were not long in coming. All with photos next to Kathy and words of encouragement and farewell.
So it did not go unnoticed and did not stop getting the messages in the last picture and post that Katherine made on Instagram, four days ago. A photo at sea, with his surfboard, and in which many fans have said goodbye and the desire for a noble game to the national athlete.
The last image of Díaz, and the memory of his essence as a Salvadoran surfer, who wherever he attended competed always sought to stand tall in the country. Forever, Katherine.
