Miami Beach sets the tone when crowds and chaos overwhelm the spring break paradise

Miami Beach is cracking down on spring break as unprecedented crowds overwhelm the sunny seaside party paradise.

The city imposed a curfew at 8 p.m., and declared a state of emergency in its busy entertainment district to fight the chaos, reports said.

“I think the volume is clearly more than it had been in previous years, and I think that’s partly because there are very few places open anywhere else in the country,” the Miami mayor told Reuters Beach, Dan Gelber.

According to Miami Beach officials, the curfew will be in effect for at least 72 hours. Roads in and out of the city will also stop at night.

The crowds are so bad that “you couldn’t see the pavement and you couldn’t see the grass,” said the city’s interim manager, Raúl Aguila.

On Saturday, Aguila declared a state of emergency. He wants emergency measures to be taken by April 12, according to the Miami Herald.
