Authorities detain 95 undocumented people at Mexico airport

Agents from the National Migration Institute (INM) identified Friday a 70 Hondurans, 14 Guatemalans, 6 Salvadorans and five Cubans who arrived at Monterrey International Airport, Nuevo León -a state bordering the United States- on two commercial flights. The majority (72 of the 95) apparently arrived in 27 family groups “of between two and five members each,” the Interior Ministry (Interior), on which the INM depends, said in a statement.

Eight members of the group are unaccompanied minors – four from Honduras, three from El Salvador and one from Guatemala – and were under the tutelage of the state System for the Integral Development of the Family, which will also serve and will house the 27 families, the secretariat added.

The remaining 15 adults, three women and 12 men, were taken to a migration station in Nuevo León to begin the process of returning to their countries of origin.
