Giants signing Adoree ‘Jackson at an NFL free agency

Giants spending continued Monday with another big push at the free agency.

Big Blue reached an agreement with cornerback Adoree ‘Jackson, a source confirmed, filling a large hole in the team’s roster. The deal is for three years and $ 39 million, with a $ 26.5 million guarantee, according to a source.

Jackson visited the Giants Sunday through Monday before accepting the deal. The Giants players made a recruitment effort. Security giants Logan Ryan, a former Jackson teammate in Tennessee, even flew in to take him to dinner Sunday night. Jabrill Peppers also went on Twitter to recruit Jackson.

The 25-year-old was released by the Titans last week after four seasons. He was inducted into the first round of USC in 2017. Jackson gives the Giants a headline against James Bradberry, which they missed last season. Jackson had planned to visit the Eagles on Monday night, but canceled that visit when the Giants shut him down.

The move comes two days after the Giants signed great receiver Kenny Golladay for a four-year, $ 72 million deal. Golladay was considered the main receiver of free agents. They also hired defensive lineman Leonard Williams for a three-year, $ 63 million contract to keep him.

The Giants have spent about $ 123 million in guaranteed money over the past week. This tracks only patriots and cowboys in free agency spending. The Giants show an urgency to improve the roster after going 6-10 last year and finishing second in a weak NFC East.

Jackson received a $ 13.5 million bonus and will get $ 16 million the first year. The contract could reach $ 44.5 million if it gets incentives.

It was a bit of a surprise for Jackson to hit the market. The Titans took his fifth-year option for 2021, but then released him last week the day before securing his salary. The move saved them $ 10 million in salary cap. Tennessee added former Giants runner-up Janoris Jenkins.

Jackson started 41 games in the last four years for the Titans. A knee injury forced him to miss the first 13 games last year. He returned to the last three games of the regular season and the Tennessee playoff loss to the Ravens. He has two professional interceptions, 33 passing deflections, three forced fumbles and two fumble rebounds. Jackson can also give kicks and kicks.

Pro Football Focus ranked him as the eighth best corner of 115 of 2019 with a score of 79.9. In 2018 he was 27th out of 112 corners with a rating of 73.0. He didn’t play enough to qualify last season.

The Giants signed Bradberry for a three-year, $ 45 million contract with $ 32 million guaranteed a year ago in free agency. Bradberry played very well and was selected for the Pro Bowl. The Giants struggled to find a corner to play in front of.

The plan was to start former first-round coach DeAndre Baker, but he was arrested and then cut. Another draft pick, Sam Beal, opted for the season. Corey Ballentine, Isaac Yiadom, Ryan Lewis and Julian Love all started, but none was the answer.
