Spotify is launching a new home screen design that should make it a little easier to find what you’re looking for from the home center.
The home screen of Spotify on mobile has always seemed a bit chaotic, with a lot of playlists “for you” mixed with what the algorithm thinks I want to hear. Spotify’s new homepage on iOS and Android, which the company said will be released worldwide “this month,” should make the discovery process a little easier.
The main thing about these new features is the ability to “travel back in time” and view your recent listening history for up to three months. Free and premium users will find the listening history button at the top right of the home screen next to the setup gear. From this menu, you can see not only what you were listening to, but also from where, such as a podcast program or a specific playlist.
The start menu will also appear on new and recently listened to podcasts, a feature that will no doubt help Spotify improve. great podcast drive. Things you’ve already heard will appear in this menu with a bar indicating how far you are, while a blue dot will indicate a suggested podcast that Spotify recommends you watch. The new Home Center will also show relevant music recommendations, which will help you discover music beyond your Discover Weekly playlist.
As a person who rarely has an idea of what I am in the mood to hear, I can certainly appreciate the process of discovery. But being able to listen and enjoy almost without having to do any serious detective work is also a good addition.
