the Nicaragua National Police reported on Monday the confiscation of two shipments of cocaine valued at more than three million dollars, in separate actions near the border with Honduras.
Police seized a total of 141 kilos of cocaine in anti-drug operations executed in the departments (provinces) of Chinandega and New Segovia, both with limits in the border separating Nicaragua from Honduras.
Of the total confiscated, 86 kilos were confiscated in the rural region Els Claus, municipality of El Vell, Chinandega, valued at 2.1 million dollars, as detailed by the second head of the Directorate of Judicial Aid (DAJ) of the National Police, Victoriano Ruiz, through Government media.
In this operation, officers did not capture anyone because the traffickers allegedly “abandoned” the drug shipment “upon seeing a police presence,” he said.
The remaining 55 kilos of cocaine were confiscated in the community of Santa Clara, municipality of Sant Ferran, Nova Segovia, for a value of 1.3 million dollars, according to the National Police.
On this occasion the agents captured two men, identified as Lenner Ramón Rodríguez González and Deybon Benwel, whose nationality was not reported.
