Apple shares the ceramic shield of the iPhone 12 that highlights the ad “Fumble”

Apple today shared a new announcement that focuses on the durability of the iPhone 12, specifically highlighting the Ceramic Shield screen, which is meant to be harder than the standard glass of the smartphone.

In the ad, a woman’s ‌iPhone 12‌ slips out of her hand and makes her escape for a few seconds before she gets out of her grip and lands on the ground, leaving unharmed.

“‌IPhone 12‌ with ceramic shield. More durable than any smartphone glass. Relax, it’s the iPhone,” the video’s title says.

All ‌iPhone 12‌ models feature Ceramic Shield OLED displays, which Apple says offer four times better fall protection than was not available with previous ‌iPhone‌ models.

The Ceramic Shield material, which comes from Corning, is made by infusing nanoceramic crystals into the glass to improve durability. While Ceramic Shield seems to be better able to withstand falls than previous iPhone screen display technology, it is still prone to scratching.
