Yesterday, Microsoft announced that the party chat, which was previously only available to Xbox Live Gold members, will soon be free for all Xbox players. The company revealed the news in a tweet with phrases like “Alpha,” “Alpha jumping forward,” and “flying.” Meanwhile, a accompanying blog post presented a series of numbers: 2104-210323-0000. What the hell does all this mean?
The short version is that it is a lot of references to the current one Xbox Insider Program, which allows Xbox users to try out upcoming features before making them available to the wider population. Earlier this month, for example, the program allows it some members will suspend games while other games are being downloaded, which can significantly increase download speeds. In some cases, members can even preview upcoming games.
That’s not all. In January, Microsoft announced (as part of an approximate approach to a drastic increase in the proposed Xbox Live rate) that at some point this year the subscription to Xbox Live Gold will no longer be required to play free games, reversing a precedent of years .
This latest release of Xbox Insider begins rolling the ball, lifting this restriction for players at the Alpha and “Alpha Skip-Ahead” levels of the show. Soon, beta and lower level members will also be able to play Fortnite, a free, no-money game for a monthly Xbox Live Gold subscription. Microsoft has not yet said when this change will be released to the general base of players.
Okay, I do. How can I register?
Easy: Turn on your Xbox. Go to the store. Open the search function and press “insider”. Download the Xbox Insider Bundle app, launch it, and click the “join” button. (It’s the only one.) That’s all. You are already there!

So how does this work work?
Xbox Insider offers advantages based on a tier system. There are five levels, three of which can be reached:
- Omega: This is the starting level. You will receive the updates just before they are posted to the general player base, still with early access, but without the bragging rights and the brilliant VIP badge.
- Delta: Once you’ve been in the program for at least a month, you’ll be able to reach the Delta level, as long as you’ve reached the second level of Xbox Insider XP. (Yes, like a video game, Xbox Insider has levels. I agree.) is annoying.) You are guaranteed to receive updates before the player’s general base. In some cases, when upgrades require additional testing, you may be able to get them before people at the Alpha and Beta levels. Luxurious.
- Beta: If you’ve been in the Xbox Insider program for three months and reached level five, you can get the Beta level. These people have access to updates shortly after the Alpha level.
Alpha Skip and ultra-exclusive Alpha Skip-Ahead levels are for invitations only. Don’t sweat them.
You will not automatically jump between levels when you unlock them. Once you’ve reached a new level, go to the “Previews” tab, click “Xbox Update Preview” and open the “Info” submenu. and click “Manage.” This should show a list of all the levels you have unlocked. (Side note: This method is also the way to disable the program. Just follow these steps and click “preview”).
One more thing: don’t change from zero if you change console. Like Xbox storage data, Xbox Insider status will follow your account. Once you open the application on the new machine, you will have access to everything you have access to on the old machine.
Why not raise the level automatically?
Vaunted levels offer early access to new features, which is great, but overall, these features have undergone fewer tests and are therefore at greater risk of error. By giving yourself the option to change levels, you will have control over your risk encounter bugs or experience Xbox features in an unfinished state.
How can I level up?
In the Xbox Insider app, go to the “Activities” tab. You will see a series of short surveys, each of which will provide you with a piece of XP to answer multiple choice questions. One of these activities is the “weekly pulse,” which requires responding to a severe brain disorder. This week? “When was the last time you filed a bug report?” This is an easy 5 XP.
You even get experience points by completing the tutorial, which is called —I don’t shit— “My first search”. It consists of two questions. You get 10 XP to make sure, a task that will take you 17 seconds.
It takes 20 XP to reach the second level. Delta rank, here I come!
Yes, yes, it is good for you. How much will this cost me?
Zero dollars. Wow, you’re essentially testing product updates for Microsoft, and that doesn’t mean anything simple. You are also handing in all completed questionnaires. If so, you should be achieve paid.
