Leaders report 210 new COVID-19 cases, 3 new deaths

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 at Thursday night’s briefing.

Nirenberg reported 203,191 COVID-19 cases in total and 3,076 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 210 new cases as of Thursday. Three new deaths have been reported today.

The seven-day rotating average is 179.

City officials also reported that 188 patients are hospitalized, 69 in the intensive care unit and 39 in ventilators. 12% beds are available and 72% are fans.

Nirenberg said 434,611 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 243,317 are fully vaccinated in Bexar County.

The mayor said the city has not made any decision on whether this year will allow traditional Easter camping in the park.

RELATED: Metro Health will make available 30,000 appointments against the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The city will give priority to the most vulnerable. From Monday, anyone aged 80 or over is encouraged to visit the Alamodome in the afternoon from Monday to Saturday to get a vaccine without an appointment.
