Sixers big man Dwight Howard was sent off from the game against the Lakers

The Philadelphia 76ers entered the Staples Center Thursday against the abbreviated Los Angeles Lakers. They did not have Joel Embiid, who was still out with the bone contusion injury, nor did they have Tony Bradley or Vincent Poirier who were sent to the George Hill trade.

That meant veteran Dwight Howard was the only real man on the list. The Sixers put Mike Scott in the center in an effort to keep Howard in his usual role with the bench drive, but Howard hurt Philadelphia a bit at first.

Howard got into play with the Lakers’ great man, Montrezl Harrell, throughout the first quarter, and once the quarter was over, Howard collided with Harrell and he was gone. The 17-year veteran received a new technical foul and was sent off from the basketball game.

Now that Howard is gone, the only other big man on the list now is rookie Paul Reed who is just 6 feet-9. The Sixers also have Simmons, who is 6 feet-10, so Philadelphia will likely use him in the middle at some point in this game.
