This 2021 draft mock makes the Bears return to the first round for a QB

Athletic on Tuesday released a new 2021 NFL draft and offered a unique twist on what the Chicago Bears could do in the first round of the April draft.

At No. 20 overall, Bears beat writer Adam Jahns in Chicago, selecting Virginia Tech offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw, who would qualify as a major steal on my board. Currently, I have Darrisaw ranked as a player in the top ten, so getting him in the twentieth selection is a very good value in a position of great need for the Bears around 2021.

Making a quarterback was definitely a consideration, but a $ 10 million investment was also made in Andy Dalton. He’s the Bears ’starting quarterback for 2021, or at least that’s what he was told during his hiring at free agency. Either way, it’s best not to force the selection, even though the Bears have a history of doing so. This is a fantastic year for offensive attacks and the Bears need to be sure to get one. Cornerback is on the table after the departure of Kyle Fuller, but the Bears are clearly changing defensive resources to offensive. Darrisaw selection is part of this process. Charles Leno Jr. and Germain Ifedi become reserved spaces until Darrisaw is ready.

The most interesting aspect of this draft simulation is what the Bears do next. According to Jahns, Chicago could return to the first round (in this case to pick No. 30) for Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in case he experiences a draft day slide as indicated by this projection.

The Bears could have patience and let their QB search in the draft play out in the second round. Jones and Texas A & M’s Kellen Mond may be available. Again, the wait to pick the number 52 could take a long time. GM Ryan Pace doesn’t like to do that. Ironically, this trade-off is done with the team that Mitch Trubisky just signed up to be his backup. But that doesn’t matter. Invoices may have Trubisky. The Bears reach the 2021 season and beyond. Jones is worth changing at the end of the first round. Dalton also said he would be fine in managing a mentor role. Through Jones ’writing, Pace and coach Matt Nagy can also extend their stays in Chicago. Young quarterbacks always change situations and expectations.

While it would be a dream scenario for the Bears to pull off an attack on the left and a quality quarterback from the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, it just won’t happen. Jones is highly unlikely to slip past the Patriots at number 15 overall, and there have been many reports suggesting that the 49ers are very interested in Jones at number 12.

It does not reach number 30.

However, false drafts are used for this; creating scenarios that we otherwise could not think of. Maybe the Bears won’t change again in Jones ’first round because he’s been gone for a long time, but that doesn’t mean they don’t value another quarterback enough to try to jump a few teams to the top of the second round lands his boy.

The next tier of quarterback prospects is headed by Kyle Trask of Florida and Davis Mills of Stanford. Neither has a first-round degree, but both could be in play around the middle of day 2. There’s a good chance they’ll both be on the board when the Bears pick in the second round, making a uniform change less likely.

But remember: this is the GM Ryan Pace we’re talking about. When it comes to quarterbacks, anything is possible.
