These are the new biosecurity measures you must follow at El Salvador International Airport

The air terminal has tightened its measures in view of the fact that more tourists are expected to arrive in the country prior to the Easter holidays.

The Easter holidays will increase the flow of passengers who use the airport as an air traffic terminal. For this reason, the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEP) has established new biosecurity measures to timely detect people with suspicions of COVID-19.

These are some of the new provisions that passengers using this terminal will have to follow.

* Thermographic cameras Six new thermographic cameras have been placed in the main corridors of the terminal with which the remote temperature of tourists can be measured. These cameras will be located in strategic areas such as check-in entrance, main entrance, inspection point 4 and hall corridors 4,8 and 10. A year ago three more were installed in different areas of passenger flow.

* Minimum of accompanying people This provision is not new, but it will be reinforced this holiday to ensure compliance. Only a maximum of two people will be allowed to accompany the traveler, whether he or she leaves the country or enters it. The farewell area will be in the main car park and before entering you will also be taken to the temperature and will be required to wear a mask.

* Surveillance system to prevent congestion To prevent people from crowding into an area of the Airport and the risk of COVID-19 infection from increasing, CEP has strengthened its video surveillance system. Your staff will be responsible for verifying on screens which areas are busiest and will send your equipment to ensure the required physical distance.

* Disinfectant stations Several disinfectant stations containing ice alcohol are installed throughout the Airport for anyone to apply on their hands. This will ensure more security for the users of the terminal.

* Foodcourt and Plaça de la Bondat remain closed The airport keeps these areas closed because they are places of great concurrence. The Foodcourt was regularly a farewell area for relatives, but due to the pandemic, it is not possible to use it.

* Stores open, but with measurements Passengers can shop at duty-free shops, but they must stick to the biosecurity measures they demand and which basically include the use of a mask, application of ice alcohol and temperature taking.

According to official CEP data, in El Salvador International Airport, from January 1 to March 21, 2021, a total of 5,120 commercial passenger flights and 298,421 entry and exit passengers.
