TAMPA, Florida – A Tampa-based company is currently working on a longer-lasting COVID-19 vaccine other than an arm shot.
The biotech company “Oragenics” is in preclinical development of a COVID-19 vaccine that, according to them, would be easier to administer and last longer.
The COVID-19 vaccine would be presented in the form of a nasal spray. Instead of injecting into the muscle like current vaccines, the spray would enter the nose to protect against the creation of viruses, a more lasting immunity.
The company claims that the nasal spray will make the vaccine more accessible to all parts of the world, rather than having to store it in cold temperatures.
“The whole idea is to have an easier delivery method, especially for children and people who are afraid of needles. Or people living in very remote areas of the world where it’s hard to try to get health workers in and make sterile shots. “. said Dr. Alan Joslyn, CEO of Oragenics.
The organics are still in the development phase of the vaccine, but hope to be able to do so in clinical trials later this year.
