In wonderful news for fans of 2D wrestling, developer French-Bread has officially announced a new entry in its series of cult anime fighting games Melty Blood. Released later in 2021 for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, Melty Blood: Lumina type you will see new characters appear and return for a magical melee action.
The new sequel, the first major release since 2011 Current Melty Blood Actress Again Code, will maintain the typical 2D combat action against you that is the trademark of the series, but will be based on a completely new engine for the HD visual debut of the franchise. Players will be able to choose from one of ten starting characters, including new fighters from the upcoming visual novel. Tsukihime: a piece of blue glass moon, which launches in August. The smaller overall list reflects the adaptive nature of the new game, focusing exclusively on the narrative and cast of the upcoming VN.
Modes confirmed for Melty Blood: Lumina type include Vs. typical Time Attack and Survival, as well as a full Story mode. Details are sparse about the fighter’s engine and mechanics, but French-Bread assures the player that Type Lumina will retain the different Melty Blood style, while certain battle mechanics are added to or replaced in the game. A new system is “Rapid Beat”, which will see players repeatedly tapping specific buttons for prolonged attacks, which sounds suspiciously like an automatic combo. The recovery code for the new title has also been confirmed.

While Melty Blood he is likely destined for the cult / niche of the fighting game community, he has always had his devoted army of followers. As such, the news of a new entry will be a surprise and a delight, and it looks like it won’t be long before fans re-enter the ring once again.
