Thanks to these leaders, who only want to get rich in exchange for losing the hegemony that Mexican football has had in the CONCACAF.
Recently, news has resurfaced that there is interest on the part of both American and Mexican executives to unify the MX League and MLS.
This does not seem like a good idea to me, because managers, from both countries, are only looking for economic benefits. Skillfully, Americans, in exchange for very little money, want to achieve the level of football it represents Mexico in the world.
In the United States they have been trying for many years to reach this level. I know because I’ve been contributing to the cause since 1979, when I went to play San Diego Soccer at a time when big players were already retiring like Pelé, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, and so on. But I came in as a young man to give a touch of attention internationally. It was a time when they had no economic control and ended up failing.
Since then, United States it has improved, it has had good times like the one where they managed to beat us at the 2002 World Cup, when it was thought that they were beating us, but no. Now with this one MLS, Where I was present at my retreat, I noticed that they were carrying him slowly, but safely.
His idea is to condition that with the 2026 World Cup, which will be shared with Mexico and Canada, we must support them for having helped us to host some matches. It’s a “Give me your hand to teach me and share quality and talent, because I’m helping them get a lot of money.”
These agreements are being merely economic non-sporting, if so, Mexico would not have left in the first instance, competitions such as the America’s Cup, Liberators i South American.
For economic benefits, the managers decided to leave Mexican teams out of these competitions and this has harmed us sportingly. We were better both as a team and individually, by the time we played these CONMEBOL tournaments, because the level and quality is better in South America.
We wanted to pair with our benchmarks on the continent, which are Brazil and Argentina. We managed to reach two finals of the Copa America, five semifinals plus three finals in the Libertadores, two finals and the championship of Pachuca in South America.
This has been the best stage of Mexican football, and all eyes were on the teams and players who played in these tournaments. Now they believe that in exchange for money, the eyes of Europe will be on Mexico and the United States, but the attention will continue on Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia …
In Europe there are American players, but also Mexican players. If they really want us to improve in sports, it’s not appropriate to unify the leagues, NO. That way we are only selling very cheaply that we are matched, so they would have to pay us a lot more.
In exchange for little money, they want to stagnate Mexican football to push their league, to equal us, and above all, in the not too distant future, to surpass us.
Thanks to these leaders, who only want to get rich in exchange for losing the hegemony that Mexican football has had in the CONCACAF.
