460 more cases of COVID-19, 27,583 vaccines reported Saturday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health on Saturday reported 460 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, along with 10 more deaths and 27,583 more vaccines administered.

This brings Utah to a total of 384,173 cases, 2,101 deaths and 1,289,691 vaccines administered since the pandemic began. Of these vaccines administered, 470,905 Utahns are considered to have been “completely” vaccinated, that is, they have received two doses of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Over the past week, the state averages 419 more cases a day and a positive evidence rate of 3.7%. There are currently 137 Utahns hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 56 in intensive care.

Saturday’s figures come as 14,289 more tests were conducted in Utah. Six of the ten deaths reported on Saturday occurred before March 1, according to the health department. The ten deaths include:

  • A 45- to 64-year-old Beaver County man who was hospitalized when he died
  • A Davis County man between the ages of 45 and 64 hospitalized
  • A Salt Lake County man between the ages of 45 and 64 who was hospitalized
  • A Davis County woman over the age of 85 who resided in a long-term care center
  • A Salt Lake County man in his 85s who resided in a long-term care center
  • A Salt Lake County woman over the age of 85 who resided in a long-term care center
  • A Utah County woman over the age of 85 who was not hospitalized when she died
  • A Utah County woman over the age of 85 who resided in a long-term care center
  • A 65- to 84-year-old Washington County man who was not hospitalized when he died
  • A Weber County woman between the ages of 45 and 64 is hospitalized

The health department’s coronavirus website says there are currently five long-term care centers in Utah with active outbreaks among residents.
