Dolton police said the boy was sitting in a car seat behind a vehicle on 1300 block of Sibley Blvd around 7:35 a.m. when he was believed to have been abducted by an unidentified man.
Waters’ father came in to grab food and left the rental car running and unlocked himself with the boy in the back seat, when someone came in and out, according to Dolton police chief Ernest Mobley.
At the time it was unclear if the child was in danger. Police had said they expected the person to notice after the child was in the back seat.
They were in a 2021 black Kia K5 with North Carolina license plate HKB6993 that was last seen heading north along Lincoln Avenue.
The car was found with the baby inside, in the 500 block of Green Bay in Calumet City.
Mobley said the baby is in St. Louis Hospital. Margaret.
