The CNE begins special verification of acts for inconsistencies

Tegucigalpa, Honduras

The co-director of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Eduardo Fuentes, reported on Friday that so far they have received more than 150 challenges from pre-candidates from the various political party movements that ran in the internal elections.

The Freedom and Refoundation Party (Free) and the Liberal Party are the ones that have presented the most inconsistencies in filling the minutes of each polling station.

The CNE reported that 17 percent of the acts have some inconsistency and that before April 13 they will have them resolved to provide a final statement.

“The electoral process continues to move forward, we continue to work, we continue to receive challenges, so far more than 150 challenges have been received from candidates from the three political parties, from the 14 legally registered movements,” he said.

“We are receiving all these challenges that the movements consider to be an offense and are being resolved within the period established by law, which is 10 days,” he said.

“He mentioned that these events will receive a special scrutiny from this day, the process will be done publicly, where there will be the media, members of civil society as providers of this process, in order to ensure that respect the popular will expressed at the polls, “he said.

The final declaration of the internal elections will be made on April 15, with the verification of the contested acts.
