Piers Morgan responded to Sharon Osbourne’s departure from “The Talk” in a lengthy account of her dramatic release of “Good Morning Britain,” in which she defended her controversial comments about Meghan Markle as “free speech.”
“What has happened to Sharon and me in the last fortnight is not really about Mrs. Markle,” she wrote in a column for the Mail on Sunday, in which she says Markle was exploiting the “awakened worldview” and “cancel the culture” in his bomb interview.
“This is a much bigger issue than that of a delirious duchess, and it is everyone’s right to be free to express our opinions honestly, forcefully and passionately if we feel like it,” she wrote.
Osbourne left “The Talk” on Friday, two weeks after arguing live with his co-hosts while defending Morgan’s diatribe on GMB, in which Markle’s interview erupted.
“I feel like I’m about to put myself in an electric chair because I have a friend that a lot of people think is racist, so it makes me a racist,” Osbourne said, pushing his co-hosts to say- li “what is said to be racist.”
Morgan also tweeted about the controversy on Saturday, posting a photo of himself with Osbourne.
“What happened@MrsSOsbourneit’s an absolute shame that embarrasses CBS. She was removed from her job to defend me against an invented hint of racism because I don’t think she’s a liar. In tomorrow ‘s Sunday Mail, I will tell MY truth about this waking * t cancellation culture tournament. ” He wrote.
