Property owner arrested after shooting 2

WICHITA, Canada (KWCH): Wichita Police Department has arrested Ken Thomas of Wichita, 62, for two aggravated battery offenses.

The police department says that around 10:35 p.m. Friday night, officers responded to a shooting on the 2300 block of North Broadway.

According to officers, on arrival they located a 19-year-old man who had been shot in the hand and torso in what appeared to be a shotgun pellet. The male was taken to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

According to police, while he was in hospital, a second 17-year-old victim arrived who had been shot in the torso by pellets from a shotgun. He was also treated for life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the two victims entered the property of the Treatco plant on block 2300 of North Broadway when they were approached by Thomas, who is the owner of the property. Thomas fired several shots from a shotgun at the males, hitting them, according to officials.

Officers say they contacted Thomas at the Treatco property, and he was arrested without incident. A shotgun was also recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
