Last month we celebrated the fourth anniversary of Switch on the market. It’s a nice little milestone, but even though it’s been in the hands of consumers for so long, the console’s focus on eShop visibility still has a long way to go.
These awards aim to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store, giving a little love and attention to the games that could so easily be lost in the ever-growing library of the Switch.
Let’s start, then. These are the best Switch eShop games of March 2021.
Honorable mentions:
While these titles haven’t quite become our top three this month, it’s still worth reviewing:

This month is ranked third Tales from the Borderlands, a game we consider one of the best efforts of Telltale Games.
Switch owners have several narrative adventures based on the choice to choose from these days, but that’s right up there with the best. In our full review (the game got a seriously strong 9/10), we described it as “ten glorious hours of first-rate entertainment, consistently excellent writing, non-stop twisted action, and a cast of funny characters who are a joy to spend time with. “
Do yourself a favor and check it out if you’re interested. This could be the best the Borderlands universe has ever been.

However, ahead of Tales of the Borderlands this month is Narita Boy. A wonderful Metroidvania published by Team17, Narita Boy pays homage to the culture of the 80s and, above all, he gets it right.
In our review, we praised the game’s beautiful handmade images, exceptional combat mechanics, varied enemy designs, and great music, all in one package that’s definitely worth it. If you’re looking for your next Metroidvania action tasting, here it is.

Getting first place this month (votes were the closest in a while) is Everhood.
Everhood is a crazy mix of role-playing games, rhythmic action, go-kart racing and shmup bullet-hell style games, and if that doesn’t leave you at least a little intrigued, we don’t know what to do. We described Everhood as “one of the most memorable games we’ve played in recent years,” with its plot and fantastic characters, but with an instantly accessible game, allowing for a fantastic match.
This is the most suitable type of game for anyone looking for something different which, let’s be honest, is exactly what the indie scene is all about. Try it: you won’t regret it.
How do we decide that our e-store selects the first three: When we get to the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as the Nintendo Switch eShop digital title this particular month and will need to be reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select the ranking games based on their review scores. Staff are then asked to vote for three parties they believe deserve to be at the top of this list; the first option gets 3 points, the second option gets 2 points and the third option gets 1 point. These votes are counted to create a list of the top three, and the overall winner will get this month’s top prize.
