Future U.S. stock markets came out the door Sunday afternoon, rising after Friday’s encouraging job report.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures YM00,
rose more than 200 points on Sunday night, or 0.6%, while the future S&P 500 ES00,
and futures NQ00 of Nasdaq-100,
it also showed solid gains.
Markets were closed Friday for Good Friday holidays. The main landmarks ended the shortened holiday week with gains, with the S&P 500 SPX,
finishing above the 4,000 milestones for the first time. The S&P rose 1.2% during the week, while the DIA Jones Industrial Average DJIA
gained 0.2% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP,
advanced 2.6%.
On Friday, the federal jobs report broke expectations, with the U.S. adding 916,000 in March as the unemployment rate fell from 6.2% to 6%. Employment growth was widespread in March, thanks to gains in leisure and hospitality, public and private education and construction, according to a report by the Department of Labor.
