SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah rose Monday by 173, with one more death and 2,326 vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.
There are now an estimated 9,242 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah, according to the health department. According to the health department, the average number of positive cases per day seven days a day is 397. The percentage of positive tests per day for the time period communicated with the “people on people” method is now 7.1 %. The positive seven-day test rate calculated using the “test over test” method is now 3.5%.
There are currently 121 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, including 47 in intensive care, according to state data. Approximately 64% of all intensive care hospital beds in Utah are occupied, including about 67% of ICU beds in the state’s 16 reference hospitals, according to state data. About 47 percent of non-ICU hospital beds are now occupied in Utah, according to state data.
A total of 1,498,039 doses of vaccine have been administered in the state, up from 1,495,713 on Sunday. A total of 976,434 Utahns have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 565,539 are considered fully vaccinated. To date, 1,734,950 doses of vaccine have been sent to Utah.
The new figures indicate an increase of 0.04% in positive cases since Sunday. Of the 2,413,193 people tested so far by COVID-19 in Utah, 16.1% tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of tests conducted during the pandemic has risen to 4,294,735, an increase of 3,778 since Sunday. Of these, 2,111 were tests of people who had not been tested for COVID-19.
The death reported Monday was a 65- to 84-year-old Utah County woman who was hospitalized when she died, according to the health department.
Monday’s total gives Utah 387,514 confirmed cases, with 15,625 hospitalizations and 2,133 deaths from the disease. According to the health department, an estimated 376,139 cases of COVID-19 in Utah are recovering.
Utah House Bill 294, also known as the state’s “final” COVID-19 bill, requires all state and local health orders related to the pandemic end the day the state’s 14-day case rate is less than 191 per 100,000 people, the average seven-day use of the COVID-19 intensive care unit is less than 15%, and 1,633,000 major doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been assigned to Utah.

However, Utah has only been assigned 920,515 main doses of the vaccine since last week, according to health officials. The state is expected to reach 1,633,000 premium doses allocated in the second or third week of May, according to the health department.
