The director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases said the federal government “can be involved in making sure things are done fairly and equitably.”
“But I doubt the federal government is the main element,” Fauci said in the podcast “Politico Dispatch.”
Fauci said he expects certain companies and educational institutions to be the ones to create their own vaccination policies.
“I’m not saying they should or would do it, but I’m saying you could envision how an independent entity could say,‘ Well, we can’t deal with you if we don’t know you’re vaccinated. ’But it won’t be required by the government. federal, ”he said.
Andy Slavitt, senior adviser to the White House COVID-19 response team, also said earlier that the Biden administration only provides guidance to the private sector on how to develop so-called passports.
