Washington is grieving again this Saturday after a man ran over two police officers, one of whom died, and crashed his vehicle into a fence protecting the U.S. Capitol, less than three months after a violent assault on the building. caused five deaths.

The image of the vehicle embedded against a barricade revived in the American capital the fear on January 6, when supporters of former President Donald Trump burst into this complex, in an unprecedented fact that forced to establish from then a security perimeter around the Legislature.

Local media identified the striker on Friday as Noah Green, a 25-year-old who in his student days played as a defender for the Christopher Newport University football team and who in recent years there was a debate between deep religiosity and episodes of possible paranoia.

After hitting the security barrier, Green got out of the vehicle with a knife in his hand and ran to attack the two officers, so he was shot by the uniformed men and later died in a hospital to which he was taken.

Friends of the young man indicated that he attributed his problems to his former teammates and roommates to whom he pointed out to drug him in 2019 with the psychotropic drug Xanax.

However, a teammate indicated that people considered this version detached from reality.

Brendan Green admitted that his brother’s mind “did not appear to be well” after visiting him in Indianapolis, where he moved after leaving Newport News and where he alleged that there were people entering his apartment.
