The new developer backyard gives some insight after the previous beta
A second open beta test of Guilty Gear Strive after the game’s delay last month, and now it looks like we finally have confirmation of the existence of the next iteration.
Arc System Works has released developer Backyard 4 for Strive, which delves deeper into the future beta, as well as what changes they plan to implement for the game’s poorly received lobby system.
“We’re planning a second open beta test based on player feedback,” says the bottom of the developer’s post. “The timing has not yet been determined, so stay tuned for future updates.”
Given the new release date for Strive, June 11, the latest version of ArcsSys will likely have this added opportunity to get their hands on the game again in early May, so the date should drop. anytime.
The developers say they would like to carry out the beta once the planned changes to the lobby are completed.
Strive’s online lobbying system was the lowest scoring mode of the post-beta survey, with more than 50 percent of respondents considering it bad or very bad.
To try to fix the issues in the latest beta, ArcSys says they will implement the following changes in the updated lobbies:
• Switch to a system where players select a visible area where they want to have a match
• After winning a match, the player stays where he is prepared for battle, unless he changes his ranking.
• Adding a revenge option
• Expanding the area of each lobby, adding an option to hide the news screen, and adding a script move for avatars.
These tweaks will likely make the Strive lobbies work similarly to previous developer titles, although they seem to clearly adhere to the 2D stages of various levels of the mode.
It wasn’t confirmed in the post here, but the Guilty Gear Strive release chart seems to show that the second beta will only be available once again for PlayStation owners with digital pre-orders granting an early access day.
