There have been many promising games canceled over the years, thankfully; many of them seem to be returning from the dead. This year already, GoldenEye 007 XBLA i Dinosaur planet have been leaked online and, to add to that, a pre-E3 demo Castlevania Resurrection it has appeared.
This title was originally announced by Konami in 1999 and was intended to be a version of Sega Dreamcast until it was delayed and then canceled around the year 2000. It is believed that the struggles of Dreamcast and the PlayStation 2’s success were contributing factors.
Before it was canceled, it was shown to the press and now somehow, out of nowhere, a video of the game being played has been posted on YouTube, titled “Castlevania Resurrection Exists”. It appears to be an early version of the game (prior to 1999) and allowed the developer to transport the character to many different areas.
Apparently, this title was intended to focus on Sonia Belmont and a character named Victor Belmont, and would have taken place in 1666 just before the original departure of Simon Belmont.
It is not yet known if anyone who has uploaded this material will share this version prior to the online version, but if we hear anything, we will let you know. On a related note, last week, Castlevania’s “absolute worst” game joined Nintendo Switch’s Arcade Archives collection.
