The death of Lluís Aurelio Vives Echeverría, father of the renowned artist Carlos Vives, was confirmed this Monday.

The news quickly spread to Santa Marta, where Aurelio developed his work as a physician and where he was widely recognized for his contributions to the city from his professional field.

Vives was receiving medical care at his home, surrounded by all his relatives. It was learned that his death occurred on the morning of this April 5, 2021, although the causes of his death have not been revealed by his family.

Juan Enrique Vives, one of his children, confirmed that Luis Aurelio Vives Echeverría died after coming for several days with physical losses due to his advanced age.

Joan Vives said that her father kept her under permanent medical care in her home due to her poor health. However, his condition worsened in recent days, leading to his death.

“He no longer spoke and was quite attributed. We will do the appropriate studies to establish the exact causes of his death,” said his son in various media, who says it is not ruled out that the death of his father had to do with the covid-19.

“Dad thank you, just thank you. In debt forever, I know you’re with God because you deserve it. I love you today, tomorrow and forever. We’ll see you again. Fly high, father,” Joan Vives wrote in her Social Networks.

Luis Aurelio Vives Echeverría was recognized in Santa Marta for his contribution to the development of the city in his work as an otolaryngologist.
