According to initial investigations, strangers tied the elderly adult with a hammock and sprayed him with alcohol to burn him alive.
A grandfather who lives on the streets was burned in different parts of his body on Monday night in the Candelaria district of the capital.
According to witnesses, unknown people tied the old man in a hammock so that he could not move and set him on fire.

“Apparently, because they wanted to burn him alive,” people at the scene said.
Neighbors distressed to see the old man being burned alerted Green Cross authorities to be attended to immediately.
Grandpa woke up with his leg burned and unable to move.
The victim, identified as Jesus Velasquez Benavides, suffered third-degree burns to his leg, back, arms and fingers, a paramedic said.
Green Cross lifeguards arrived at the scene to put out the fire and help the grandfather.
Due to the burns he suffered, the homeless man was bandaged on the spot and then taken by paramedics to the hospital.
Authorities said they had no clue as to who could commit the attack.
