Jeff Bezos says Amazon supports Biden’s corporate tax hike

Amazon supports a corporate tax hike proposed by President Biden to help pay for his administration’s $ 2 trillion infrastructure proposal, the company’s founder Jeff Bezos said Tuesday.

Biden has proposed raising the corporate tax rate from 28% to 28% to help fund its global proposal.

“We recognize that this investment will require concessions from all parties, both on the specific characteristics of what is included and on how it is paid (we support a rise in the corporate tax rate),” Bezos said in a statement.

“We hope Congress and the Administration will come together to find the right, balanced solution that maintains or improves the competitiveness of the United States.”

The outgoing Amazon CEO did not specifically support Biden’s plan, but said his company supports the “administration’s focus on making bold investments in U.S. infrastructure.”

Bezos’ statement came after the president called the e-commerce giant when he unveiled his infrastructure plan, explaining how much he pays in federal taxes.

The president said last week that Amazon was one of 91 Fortune 500 companies that “use several loopholes where they don’t pay a single penny in federal income tax.”

Bezos, the richest man in the world, will step down as CEO during the third quarter of 2021.
