Piers Morgan has a royal tear.
The station appeared on “Extra TV” on Tuesday to talk to host Billy Bush about the exit her “Good Morning Britain” concert and reportedly received the support of members of the British royal family to “defend” them in comments she made about Meghan Markle.
Morgan left “GMB” after saying he didn’t “believe a word,” the Duchess of Sussex said during the Harry Potter and Meghan special with Oprah Winfrey last month.
“I wouldn’t believe it if I read a weather report and I think it’s despicable to have launched this onslaught against our royal family,” Morgan said at the time.
The comments apparently drew attention, as Morgan told Bush that he had “communicated some messages on behalf of several members of the royal family.” Morgan declined to name names when Bush asked if it was “top-level people” they contacted.
“Well, I’m not going to get into who I was,” the author of “Wake Up.” “But what I would say is gratitude for someone defending them.”
A Buckingham Palace spokesman told HuffPost on Wednesday that “this is not something we are discussing.” Kensington Palace did not return any comments.
Morgan also told Bush that “he was apologized for not believing Meghan Markle, whom I don’t believe.”
“I think, ironically, you should have a right not to believe someone if you don’t want to,” the station added.
During Meghan’s interview with Oprah, the duchess said she was contemplating suicide and that members of the royal family reportedly expressed racist concerns about the darkness of her son’s skin before he was born. Prince Harry also revealed that his father, Prince Charles, “stopped receiving calls” during conversations about his actual departure and claimed that his family “literally cut me off financially”.
Gayle King, host and friend of the “CBS This Morning” couple, later shared an update on Harry’s conversations with his father and brother, Prince William, who called them “unproductive.”
“The word they gave me was that those conversations weren’t productive,” King said on his March program. “But they’re glad they started at least one conversation.”
“I think what still bothers them is that the palace keeps saying they want to work on it in private, but nonetheless, they think these fake stories come out that are still very derogatory against Meghan,” King said.
“I think it’s frustrating for them to see that it’s a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted was for the royal family to step in and tell the press to stop with the fake, unfair and inaccurate stories that definitely have a racial inclination “. “Until you can recognize it, I think it will be difficult to move forward.”
