More than one million Utahns have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The number of new cases reaches more than 600 and two more Utahns have died from the virus.

More than one million Utahns have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Utah Department of Health, approximately 44% of the eligible population over the age of 16.

The total number at the end of Tuesday (1,013,308) represents approximately 30% of the total population of Utah. Less than 600,000 Utahns have been fully vaccinated (either with doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine), or approximately 26% of those Utahns eligible to receive the vaccine. and approximately 18% of the vaccine. the total population, according to US census estimates.

“This is a milestone worth celebrating and we hope that number will continue to rise as more and more Utahns decide to get vaccinated,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said in a statement. “The speed with which we have been able to vaccinate Utahns is a testament to the work and dedication of the Utah public health system and our vaccination partners statewide.”

UDOH also reported that the number of new cases of COVID-19 exceeded 600 and there were two more deaths.

Dose of vaccines administered the day before / total doses administered • 34,814 / 1,561,167.

Fully vaccinated Utahns • 599,972.

Cases reported last day • 612.

Deaths reported last day • Two: a 45-64-year-old man in Salt Lake County and a 65-84-year-old man in Washington County.

Tests reported last day • 7,246 people were tested for the first time. A total of 18,522 people were tested.

Hospitalizations reported last day • 149. That exceeds 10 as of Tuesday. Of those currently hospitalized, 55 are in intensive care units, seven more than on Tuesday.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the original method of the state, the rate is 8.4%. This is above the seven-day average of 7.2%.

The new state method counts all test results, including repeated tests by the same individual. Wednesday’s rate was 3.3%, roughly the same as the seven-day average of 3.5%.

Total so far • 388,426 cases; 2,139 dead; 15,675 hospitalizations; 2,424,457 people were tested.
