PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – An investigation is underway after a shooting wounded a Philadelphia police officer Wednesday night.
It happened at block 1500 of West Somerville Avenue shortly before 7 p.m.
Sources tell Action News that officers were shot while making a traffic stop while three people were in the vehicle.
The officer was shot in the foot during an exchange of gunfire, according to Action News.
Two of the three people inside the vehicle were also injured in the attack. One of the occupants was mortally wounded, according to sources.
The agent is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.
It was not immediately known what caused the traffic stop.
