The New Progressive Party announced this afternoon through its social networks, that Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia called for “as a precautionary measure against the increase in contagion by COVID-19,” to cancel the event that they had been guided to see the transmission of the state status message to the Capitol.
The event had been convened as a “viewing party” by the party’s secretary general, Carmelo Ríos.
Despite the name they gave to the event, in an interview with Puerto Rico Metro, The senator had assured that it would not be “a demonstration or a party”, so only 200 people will be allowed.
Popular representatives such as Orlando José Aponte Rosario, came out yesterday to criticize the event convened by PNP, calling it a “covid party”.
Faced with the announcement of the cancellation, the party invited people to view the message at 5:00 pm via the networks or via WIPR.
