Greta Thunberg, a teenage anti-climate change activist, said on Friday that she would not attend the UN climate conference, which is scheduled to be held in Scotland this November, citing concerns about the inequality of access that some countries have COVID-19 vaccines.
In a Twitter thread, Thunberg set out his reasoning for choosing to give up the conference.

He referred to countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Pacific islands and developing countries in Asia and the Middle East, which have experienced a slow deployment of vaccines and a higher number of coronavirus cases.
“Right now many countries are vaccinating healthy young people, often at the expense of risk groups and front-line workers (mainly from the south of the world, as usual …),” he wrote.
Thunberg also spoke to the BBC about the need to postpone the conference for a documentary series.
“It simply came to our notice then. Of course, the best we could do would be to vaccinate everyone as soon as possible so that everyone could participate on the same terms, ”said Thunberg.
The conference has already moved a year ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.
