Earlier, they held a bilateral dialogue in which the State Department special envoy for the Northern Triangle, Ricardo Zúñiga, and Chancellor Lisandro Rosales participated.
“We have been told that President Biden’s administration has made $ 4 billion available,” he said, noting that Honduras has notified its agreement to have them executed through agencies estimated by the northern government. -American.
He recalled that with the support of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Honduras already has a study that collects all the information on the effects suffered by the passage of tropical storms in Eta and Iota and on the areas where actions must be taken to address the affected populations.
The delegation said in Washington that 95% of Hondurans who have joined the recent migration mobilizations are from areas affected by both weather events.
“Already with this map we will have technical meetings where they can structure and have their assistance, according to the needs of the reconstruction itself,” he said.
“U.S. interventions were aimed at mitigating these origins that are currently the problems of migration. These causes that are structural are the ones we have agreed we must fight,” he added.
