Speaking to the media after attending a service in the chapel of the Royal Lodge Windsor, the Duke of York said: “I am very sorry and I am supported by my mother who probably feels more than anyone.”
“He was a remarkable man, he loved him as a father. He was very calm. If you have a problem, he would think about it,” Andrew said. “He was always someone you could go to.”
The royal family itself “everyone feels a great sense of loss,” the duke said. “We’ve almost lost the nation’s grandfather.”
Asked about how his mother feels, Andrew replied, “The queen, as expected, is an incredibly stoic person. And she described her passing as a miracle. And she is contemplating.
“He described that he had left a huge void in his life,” the duke said, adding that the family “is concentrating to make sure we are here to support him.”
