Bobby Lashley started the night of WrestleMania 37 with a successful title defense over Drew McIntyre. The All Mighty era is set to continue on Monday night RAW and now all eyes are on the next rival in the WWE title.
Dave Meltzer speculated about Bobby Lashley’s possible plans in the post-WrestleMania 37 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer explained that the concluding end of Bobby Lashley’s game against Drew McIntyre did not hint at revenge:
“The thing is, again, I don’t know. I’ll probably ask for it tomorrow, but as for what they’re doing, for example. Okay, so it wasn’t a good finish to build a revenge, and, all and so, I don’t think WrestleMania should be a show in the title game at WrestleMania, when it’s chasing the baby’s face, setting up an ending for Backlash or Money in the Bank or whatever. “doing it on the show before WrestleMania, but I wouldn’t do it at WrestleMania. That wasn’t a finish you would make to build a revenge anyway.”
Bobby Lashley vs. The Fiend?
Meltzer highlighted the scarcity of credible faces to face a heel champion like Bobby Lashley. Brock Lesnar is not expected to return soon. WWE could end up booking “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt in a story with Bobby Lashley.
Meltzer claimed that The Fiend is the only first-rate RAW babyface that can have a show with Bobby Lashley.
The Fiend is also the favorite to beat Randy Orton on the second night of WrestleMania 37. Wyatt could be rewarded with another WWE title story:
“What a baby face, in theory; it could even be a heel; who will Lashley face if he’s not Drew? Brock won’t be back next month. The devil is an answer that scares me to death. Here “It’s the subject, the devil is probably beating Randy Orton. I mean, I’d think so, and if that were the case, God, can you imagine? It’s the only thing that comes to mind. Why are you going to beat Drew?” the only reason Lashley should beat Drew is because they will create another baby face, ”Meltzer said.
Meltzer ruled out the possibility of Sheamus reserving the title image with Bobby Lashley.
Meltzer said having a rematch between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre at the next PPV could be a possibility. However, the finish of WrestleMania 37 was not ideal for setting up a convincing revenge scenario:
“I don’t see it as Sheamus; I don’t know if Sheamus is a baby face or a heel; he goes back and forth in the middle of all the promotions. But Sheamus has already established himself as someone who’s not at Drew’s level. So who is the next big strong baby, and it will probably be The Fiend, so it’s the only direction I can get unless they have Lashley for revenge, but if they had Lashley, go for revenge, what a nice ending was! “
Bobby Lashley will enter RAW after WrestleMania 37 as WWE Champion, and WWE should ideally reveal his next opponent in the episode.
