Phillies beat Braves in a disputed call on the plate

Alec Bohm’s left foot may or may not have touched the home plate at the top of the ninth inning on Sunday night at Truist Park. He scored anyway.

Bohm’s controversial career saved the Phillies series with a 7-6 victory over the Braves. Bohm doubled to center right to start the ninth. Jean Segura’s field of play to second overtook Bohm to third. Didi Gregorius then hit a flying ball in the shallow left field, just 200 yards from the home plate. Phillies third baseman Dusty Wathan sent Bohm. The brave left-footed Marcell Ozuna threw on the plate. The ball and Bohm reached the home plate almost at the same time, and the beach referee, Lance Barrett, said Bohm was safe. But television reproductions appeared to show that Bohm’s foot may have lost the plate.

The review of the reproduction said that the work would be maintained as it was called.

Hector Neris threw a ninth without a score when the Phillies avoided sweeping the series.
