Two climbers were rescued from a mountain in Utah after getting lost in the dark.
Hikers left Friday around 4 p.m. to board the Scott Room route at Little Cottonwood Canyon, located in the Salt Lake Valley, about 20 miles southeast of Salt Lake City, according to the team. search and rescue of the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
After the climbers completed the five-throw route in the afternoon, they were unable to find the abseiling stations to get off the route, authorities said.
A search and rescue team that knew the route was able to use high-power lights at the base of the descent to guide climbers to the abseiling stations.
The photos posted on the search and rescue team’s Facebook page show the climbers clinging to the side of the mountain with a spotlight pointed at them.
All the people were out of the mountain safely at two in the morning, authorities reported.
