Vegas Golden Knights get Mattias Janmark of the Chicago Blackhawks to trade in the NHL

The Golden Knights have acquired Chicago Blackhawks striker Mattias Janmark for a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL draft, sources told ESPN’s Emily Kaplan. Chicago also sends a fifth-round pick for the third round of Vegas next year.

Chicago had scratched the 28-year-old from Sunday’s game with his gaze set on the deadline for Monday. Although the Blackhawks are about to play in the playoffs, they are in the middle of a youth movement.

Janmark was a big advantage for the Stars during the first four seasons of his career, never exceeding 40 points. But he surprised Chicago, even gaining time in the power play. He returned the most important role with 10 goals and nine assists in 41 games.

The Golden Knights are gearing up for a deep playoff run. They currently occupy second place in the Western Division, four points from the avalanche.

Janmark is a low risk rental for the home as it will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

This is the second consecutive season the Blackhawks and Golden Knights have connected in the trade deadline. Last year, Chicago sent goalkeeper Robin Lehner to Las Vegas for goalkeeper Malcolm Subban. Lehner re-signed with the Golden Knights in the offseason.
