‘YOU HAVE TO WALK BEFORE RUNNING’

The Commissioner emphasized that while the aim is to give more strength to CONCACAF through tournaments in conjunction with the MX League, they don’t have to eat cravings and do it step by step.

“There’s no reason why this region, North America and CONCACAF, isn’t as strong and as valuable as CONMEBOL, CAF, or UEFA at the time. And the only way to do that, is to create meaningful competitions between their top clubs as seen in Europe or South America and we have to walk before we run.

“This is the Leagues Cup, the Champions Cup in question; this is our mutual commitment with CONCACAF on having the right schedule and the right opportunities in the Concachampions. And just as we see more and more value coming from here, we will eventually be able to move closer and closer in terms of the relationship we are looking for with meaningful competitions. ”
